Besides promoting computer literacy and playing a pivotal role in creating awareness in computers and bridging the digital divide, the National Cyber Olympiad (NCO) helps students to take an early lead in coping with a computer-oriented tomorrow that is on the anvil. Thanks to various initiatives being taken by governing bodies in the country.
NCO, besides testing the student's aptitude for taking up career in computers, will also help in the following endeavors:
- A national Olympiad exam assesses the student at national level by doing away with the drawbacks and inadequacies of testing done at school/regional level. A national level assessment not only gives the student an idea where he stands but also the confidence to face exams at national level.
- SOF supports the Ministry of Human Resource Development's initiative in introducing the concept of SMART schools where the emphasis is not only on Information Technology in schools but also on the use of computer skills and values that will be important in the new millennium.
- NCO supplements the knowledge base of CBSE/ICSE and other state board students taking an introductory Infotech course in classes IX, X, XI, XII and even lower classes.
- SOF website provides ideas of interesting projects. This can be taken up by students studying in classes 3 to 12.
- Computer education material on SOF website helps students to understand the latest technologies in fast changing world of computers.
- A comprehensive CQ (Computer Quotient) Report helps in understanding strength and weaknesses of the student.
- Recognition at National/State Level motivates the student to excel in chosen field of study and set higher goals.
