1.Definition
Cyber Olympiad is a national level exam based on mental ability, logical & analytical reasoning and general questions on computers and information technology. The purpose is to test aptitude of the participants for taking up a career in mathematics and computers related areas.
2. Eligibility
Students studying in classes 3 to 12 in English medium schools affiliated with CBSE/ICSE and state boards can participate in the NCO. All students of Class 9 to 12 interested in pursuing careers in arts, commerce and science should participate since the competition aims to test the students' aptitude for computers.
3. Question Paper and Sample Papers
The participant has to answer 50 questions in 60 minutes. Additional 10 minutes is given to students so that they can fill up the students information sheet (Given on the OMR answer sheet).

There is a separate question paper for each class.

Question paper will have three sections
Section I - Mental Ability (15 questions)
Section II - Logical and Analytical Reasoning (15 questions)
Section III - Computer and Information Technology (20 questions)

Sample question paper for each class is sent to all schools with the information booklet and registration forms. School NCO In-charge is requested to give the xerox copy of the sample question paper to interested students. Sample question papers and other material can also be downloaded from SOF website (www.sofworld.org).

All questions are objective (MCQ) type. The question papers are prepared by SOF's panel of subject experts selected from all over India.
4. Marking Scheme
1 mark is allotted for each right answer. There is no negative marking. In case of a tie-up, following preference with respect to the marking is followed : First computer related questions, then mental ability questions, and finally logical and analytical reasoning.
5. Syllabus
The guidelines for the type of questions, syllabus etc. have been mentioned in the sample question paper.
6. Medium of the Olympiad
Medium of the exam will be English.
7. Examination Centre
The centre of the exam will be the candidate's own school.
8. Time of the Olympiad
The exam should be conducted during school hours, preferably between 10.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.
9. After the Olympiad
After the examination is conducted the solution sheets should be returned to the Foundation's Office as early as possible. The answer sheets will be checked by the Foundation. The student is allowed to retain the question paper.
10. Registration Procedure
Principals / teachers may please note that any school may register as a centre for NCO. No fee is required from the institution to become a registered examination centre. Minimum of 50 students need to register from each school for feasibility reasons. Students should register through the schools only. Individual registration by the student is not encouraged.
11. School Codes
School code is a unique code issued by Science Olympiad Foundation to the schools registering for National Cyber/Science Olympiad (It is NOT same as CBSE or any other affiliation code with education boards). It is a four digit code. If you have participated in last year's Olympiads then use the same code. If you are participating after a gap of one year or more/first time then please contact Team Members/City Coordinator in your city. You can also contact SOF head office in New Delhi.
12. Participation Fees
A nominal participation fee is charged from each student. Part of it is retained by the school for its expenses as the exam centre. Details about the fee/ mode of payment etc. are given in the School Registration Form (SRF) that is sent to the schools along with the prospectus.
13. Level 2
Top 500 students of level 1 from each class are selected for the level 2 which will be an online / offline test and will be conducted across the country. Admit Cards mentioning the examination center details are issued to the qualified students through their respective schools.
14. Clarifications :
Any clarification regarding rules, format/pattern of the paper, etc., may be sought from the Science Olympiad Foundation through phone/fax/e-mail.
